Now under new ownership but with a lot to live up to following in the footsteps of Kate, Jane and their family who ran this post office and store for over 40 years. They deserve their well earned time off!

We are Nik & Lesley, parents of three grown daughters. We have lived in North Yorkshire for over 25 years and eagerly anticipate our short hop to Great Ouseburn to continue our adventure with you.

We want to provide a community based service, be an outlet for Yorkshire artisan produce and move toward a more eco-friendly operation.

Whilst we have our own ideas, we really need your input as what you would like to see whether that is on:

- opening hours

- produce/brands/services

- generating community spirit; or

- anything else close to your heart

The village store has been a shop for over 100 years and a post office for many of those so we feel that historical burden to continue the tradition.

We want to put the shop and post office at the heart of the communities in and around the Ouseburn area supporting local causes, the school, the village halls, cricket teams and the churches.

We know it is a buzzword but we aim to become more sustainable when we do this by reflecting upon:

- what we stock, its packaging and impact upon our planet

-  where we source it from, the more local the better to reduce our carbon footprint

- how we generate our power and energy to run this space
